Corrosion technology is a far reaching field including energy infrastructure, transportation systems, national defense, and more. Corrosion technicians install, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot facilities. Students in the SCCC corrosion technology program learn in both the classroom and a state-of-the-art outdoor pipeline and field laboratory setting. The laboratory includes an above ground storage tank, an underground storage tank, simulated well bore, intricate pipeline lab attached to a state-of-the-art control panel, and an anode bed. With courses in basic electricity and circuits, mechanisms of corrosion, basic metallurgy, surveying, sketching and drafting, federal code regulations, and more, SCCC corrosion technology students complete their studies with the solid foundation necessary to be successful in their field.
